The Independence Day celebration at DRV DAV Centenary Public School, Phillaur, on August 15th was a vibrant and patriotic affair, filled with enthusiasm and national pride. The event began with the flag-hoisting ceremony, where Principal, Dr. Yogesh Gambhir, unfurled the Tricolour. As the flag ascended, the entire school resonated with the sound of Bharat Mata Ki Jai , creating a sense of unity and reverence among all present.
Following the flag hoisting, students presented a meticulously planned cultural program designed to instill the spirit of patriotism and a deep love for the country. The program included a series of captivating performances that showcased the rich cultural diversity of India. Students performed traditional dances from various states, highlighting the unity in diversity that our nation proudly upholds.
In addition to the dances, the students delivered powerful speeches and recited heartfelt poems that reflected the significance of independence and the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters. A mime performance was also staged, portraying the struggles and triumphs of India's journey to freedom, which left a lasting impact on the audience.
A special segment of the event was the "Nukkad Natak" (street play), which focused on the theme of social media. The play effectively conveyed a powerful message, urging students to harness the power of social media for positive purposes rather than misusing it.
A group of talented students represented the school at Tehsil level cultural program held at the Community Hall in Phillaur.
Their dance performance, which showcased the vibrancy and diversity of Indian culture, was highly appreciated by the audience and brought pride to the school.
Principal, Dr. Yogesh Gambhir, delivered a thought-provoking message that resonated deeply with the students. He began by posing a reflective question: "Have we truly attained freedom?" While acknowledging that India gained independence from British rule in 1947, he emphasized that today, many have become slaves to their mobile phones. He urged the students to recognize this modern-day bondage and motivated them to take a pledge to liberate themselves from this new ruler, encouraging them to use technology wisely and not let it control their lives.
