On 17 May 2024, DRV DAV Centenary Public School, Phillaur, organized a seminar to raise awareness about dengue on the occasion of National Dengue Day. The seminar aimed to educate class V students about the deadly disease dengue, its causes and prevention. Mr. Preetinder Singh( Block extension educator) And Mr. Shiv Kumar( Para Medical Cadre) visited the school premises
and delivered an engaging lecture through a PowerPoint presentation. They highlighted causes of Dengue such as transmission by Aedes mosquitoes.They make the students aware about the symptoms of dengue such as high fever, severe headache, pain behind the eyes, joint and muscle pain, rash, and mild bleeding.
They also awared the students regarding the precautions to be taken to avoid dengue such as eliminating standing water where mosquitoes breed, using mosquito repellents and nets,
Wearing long-sleeved clothing, and ensuring proper waste disposal and cleanliness. The students were highly attentive and actively participated in the session. They promised to share the knowledge gained with their parents, extending the awareness beyond the classroom.
Principal Dr. Yogesh Gambhir expressed gratitude to Mr. Preetinder Singh and Mr. Shiv Kumar for their valuable contribution. He appreciated their efforts in enhancing the students' understanding of dengue and empowering them with knowledge to help prevent the disease.
