Virtual Orientation Programme for Parents
The current pandemic is expected to not just have enormous economic consequences but it is also having a devastating impact on education. In order to continue teaching-learning practices, school has resorted to a quick solution of having virtual classes to deal with the crisis. But virtual classrooms are not as simple as plug-and-play. So for smooth and fruitful functioning of these classes the School organised virtual Parents Orientation’ programs from 14th May , 2020 to 23rd May 2020 for classes 1 to 12 , to forge effective communication with parents and aware them about norms of these classes.
Parents were made aware that there is direct positive correlation between parent involvement and student success. Virtual classrooms work better when parents take an active role in their child’s learning. As the parent of an online learner, they were acquainted that it is imperative to be aware of the tools and services available to the student. This uncertainty may inadvertently lead to the child’s lagging behind, losing confidence in their abilities as an online learner. During an online class, while a teacher or instructor serves as a virtual instructor of the subject matter, a parent should know when to lean in and lean out of a particular online learning environment. They are not meant to serve as the online course instructor instead, they should offer facilitative support to the learning structure, and help the child achieve his or her lesson goals.
Online tools were curated and shared with parents to help them in making informed choices for their child.
Parents were familiarized regarding rules and regulations of online classes and asked for their wholehearted support for the success of these classes.
